‘If TMC vehicles are checked, why not PM, HM or CRPF?’ Mamata alleges attempt to stop her car at Kolkata airport

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the central government and election machinery, alleging that Union ministers are bringing money into the state during the ongoing election campaign. Speaking at a public rally, she claimed to be aware of what is being transported in vehicles of central forces, raising concerns over alleged misuse of power during elections.

She also questioned what she described as selective vehicle checks targeting leaders of her party. Referring to an incident near Dum Dum Airport, Mamata said she had invited central forces to inspect her vehicle, but asked why similar checks were not being conducted on vehicles of the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, central forces, or leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party. She termed the situation as unfair and questioned the neutrality of the electoral process.

Escalating her criticism, Mamata alleged that BJP leaders were arriving from Delhi with “money bags” to influence the elections. She stated that her political fight was not just against a party but against what she described as forces operating beyond established rules and laws. The remarks come amid heightened political tensions and increased scrutiny of campaign activities across the state.

In a strong warning, the Chief Minister claimed that there were attempts to target and arrest members of her party. She said that if any Trinamool Congress worker is arrested, there would be a larger response, indicating a further escalation in political rhetoric ahead of polling. Her comments have added to the charged atmosphere surrounding the elections.

Apart from her allegations, Mamata continued her campaign engagements on the occasion of Poila Boishakh, addressing a rally in Islampur and planning marches in Siliguri and Mal. In her earlier message, she urged people to participate in the democratic process while also speaking about communal harmony and raising concerns over issues related to voter lists and governance.
