No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the ruling All India Trinamool Congress while campaigning in West Bengal’s Barabani constituency, claiming that “TMC goons, mafia and maulanas will be forced to sweep the streets” if the BJP comes to power. Addressing a packed rally in support of BJP candidate Arijit Roy, he urged voters not to fear “TMC goons, mafia, or what any maulana says,” asserting that a “double-engine government” would transform governance and restore law and order in the state.
Calling the election a decisive moment, Yogi appealed to voters to ensure BJP’s victory, promising “security, prosperity, and a bright future” under the leadership of Narendra Modi. He claimed that the Trinamool Congress would be “completely wiped out” and said development work would accelerate if the same party governed both the Centre and the state. He also assured that issues such as law and order, unemployment, and governance would be addressed at “double speed.”
Targeting the current administration, Yogi alleged that under TMC rule, Bengal has witnessed the rise of sand, coal, and land mafias, along with increasing corruption and insecurity. He claimed that youth are struggling for jobs and farmers are not receiving fair prices. He further said that BJP would eliminate “fear, anarchy, and mafia rule” and ensure that there are no riots or curfews in the state.
Drawing comparisons with Uttar Pradesh, Yogi said the state was once plagued by crime and unrest but has undergone a transformation under BJP rule. He highlighted that festivals are now celebrated peacefully and strict action has been taken against criminal networks. He also reiterated that BJP would not allow cow slaughter in Bengal and would ensure safety and stability across communities.
Referring to Bengal’s cultural legacy, Yogi described the state as a “land of inspiration” that produced figures like Swami Vivekananda and Subhas Chandra Bose. He added that the vision of Syama Prasad Mukherjee had been fulfilled through the abrogation of Article 370, and stressed that BJP aims to restore Bengal’s past glory while ensuring uniform development and governance.
