BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has outlined a series of welfare promises targeting women voters in West Bengal, stating that their prosperity remains a key priority for the BJP. He alleged that due to corruption under the current state government, women are not receiving benefits similar to those provided in BJP-ruled neighbouring states like Assam, Tripura, Odisha and Bihar.
He said that if the BJP comes to power in Bengal, poor women would receive free rations without leakages. The Prime Minister also announced that financial assistance of up to ₹1.5 lakh would be provided under the PM Awas Yojana to help women build permanent homes.
Highlighting a proposed scheme, Modi spoke about the ‘Maatri Shakti Bharosa Card’, under which women in the state would receive ₹36,000 annually. He said the initiative has already generated significant interest among women in Bengal.
Women remain a crucial voter base in the state, with both the BJP and the ruling party focusing on welfare schemes ahead of the elections scheduled in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with counting on May 4.
