West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack on the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing the ruling dispensation as a “minority government” that has failed to change its approach despite the electoral mandate. She alleged that the Centre continues to function with the same “arrogance and bullying,” which she termed a threat to democratic values.
Banerjee said the message delivered by the public in the Lok Sabha elections has not reflected in the functioning of the government, claiming that the attitude of those in power remains unchanged. She added that such conduct signals a disregard for democratic accountability.
Taking a dig at public broadcasting, the Chief Minister remarked that Doordarshan has turned into “Modi Darshan,” alleging that it is being used to promote a single leader and party. Her comments come amid heightened political tensions following the election results.
