Eastern Railway has announced the operation of multiple special EMU train services across Sealdah and Howrah divisions from April 20 to April 30 to manage increased passenger rush. These temporary services will run on key suburban routes, with all trains stopping at every station and operating with 12-coach formations.
In the Sealdah division, special services will run on the Sealdah–Namkhana–Sonarpur and Sonarpur–Diamond Harbour–Sealdah routes. The Sealdah–Namkhana service will depart early morning and return via Sonarpur, while another service will connect Sonarpur with Diamond Harbour and back to Sealdah, ensuring better connectivity for commuters.
In the Howrah division, additional EMU trains will operate on the Katwa–Bandel and Katwa–Burdwan routes, with scheduled departures and return journeys during the day. A separate Bandel–Katwa–Azimganj special service has also been introduced recently, further strengthening suburban rail connectivity during the high-demand period.
