No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
A 23-year-old former house help has been arrested for allegedly raping and murdering the daughter of an IRS officer in Delhi’s Amar Colony, hours after committing another rape in Rajasthan’s Alwar. Police said the accused, Rahul Meena, carried out the two crimes within a span of 12 hours.
According to investigators, the accused first targeted a woman in Alwar on Tuesday night, allegedly entering her home, assaulting and raping her before fleeing. The next morning, he reached Delhi and entered his former employer’s residence, where the 22-year-old victim was alone. He allegedly attacked her inside a study room, strangled her and assaulted her before committing rape.
Police said the accused then attempted to access valuables in the house, later breaking open a locker and fleeing with cash and jewellery after changing his clothes. The victim was found by her parents upon their return, lying in a pool of blood. She was declared dead at the scene.
A multi-team operation using CCTV footage helped track the accused’s movement, identify his route and locate him at a hotel, where he was arrested. Police said he had been dismissed from the household earlier over financial misconduct. A case of rape, murder and robbery has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
