Gunshots in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh leave one injured, accused on the run

A man was injured after multiple rounds of firing were reported in Karol Bagh in the early hours of Friday, with police suspecting a case of personal enmity behind the attack. The incident took place on Faiz Road between 3 am and 4 am, creating panic in the locality as gunshots rang out in the otherwise quiet residential area.

The injured man, identified as Rohit, a resident of Anand Parbat, sustained a gunshot injury and was initially taken to Lady Hardinge Medical College before being shifted to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for further treatment. Hospital authorities have described the case as medically sensitive, and he remains under close supervision.

Police teams, along with forensic experts, reached the spot soon after receiving information and began examining the crime scene. During the inspection, officials recovered two empty cartridges and one live round, indicating that at least three shots were fired during the incident.

Initial investigations suggest that the firing may have stemmed from a personal dispute between the victim and the suspected assailant, who is currently absconding. A case of attempt to murder has been registered, and multiple teams have been deployed to trace and apprehend the accused.

Authorities are analysing CCTV footage from nearby areas and recording eyewitness statements to piece together the sequence of events. Police said the investigation is underway from all possible angles as they continue efforts to identify the motive and bring those responsible to justice.
