Outrage in Shantiniketan over alleged rape of minor in home, protests erupts

Tension gripped Shantiniketan after an allegation of rape of a minor girl surfaced, triggering protests and police action. According to the victim’s statement, the alleged assault occurred on Wednesday night. She was later admitted to a hospital in an unwell condition and is currently undergoing treatment. An FIR was registered on Thursday night at the Shantiniketan Police Station, but no arrests had been made till Friday, raising concerns among local residents.

The victim, in her statement, appealed for justice and strict punishment for those responsible. The delay in arrests has led to strong public reaction, with locals gathering in front of the police station on Friday and staging a protest. Demonstrators alleged that inadequate security and lack of surveillance in the area have contributed to such incidents.

Police officials have assured that the matter is being taken seriously. District Superintendent of Police Surya Prasad Yadav stated that a written complaint has been received and that appropriate action will follow based on the findings of the investigation. Meanwhile, protesters have warned of intensifying agitation if swift arrests are not made.
