Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Nanda spearheaded a crucial high-level security meeting today at the Dhandhanya Auditorium in Kolkata to finalize the security roadmap for the upcoming second phase of the assembly elections. The session brought together key stakeholders, including the District Election Officers (DEOs) of Kolkata and the 24 Parganas, alongside civil and police sector officers, and general and special observers. The overarching objective remains consistent: to ensure that the electoral process proceeds smoothly and peacefully, leaving no room for security lapses on polling day.
During the meeting, the administration placed heavy emphasis on granular planning. Police leadership reviewed the deployment strategies for the Quick Response Team (QRT) and the HRFS, alongside the effective management of the centralized control room. To ensure seamless coordination on the ground, Commissioner Nanda introduced a comprehensive 'Police Arrangement Booklet.' This document serves as a standard operating procedure, providing every police personnel and officer with clear, written instructions to eliminate confusion and ensure uniform enforcement of security protocols across the constituencies.
Addressing the role of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and contingency responses, the Commissioner underscored that any form of chaos will be met with zero tolerance. A significant portion of the discussion was also dedicated to the regulation of bike processions. CP Nanda clarified that the administration is fully committed to adhering to the recent Calcutta High Court directives regarding bike rallies, ensuring that legal mandates are followed to the letter while maintaining public order throughout the voting process.
