Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Tension erupted outside a strong room in Egra after allegations of police bias triggered protests led by Trinamool Congress leaders and supporters. The situation escalated after claims surfaced that rules were violated regarding access to the strong room, prompting a large gathering and slogan-shouting at the site.
Trinamool Congress candidate from Potashpur Assembly constituency, Piyush Kanti Panda, accused the Officer-in-Charge of Egra Police Station, Sushanta Chattopadhyay, of acting in a biased manner. He alleged that the officer allowed a political opponent entry into the strong room in violation of established protocols, leading to anger among party workers.
As tensions mounted, hundreds of supporters assembled outside the premises, disrupting normal movement in the area. The Sub-Divisional Officer and central forces were deployed to control the situation, and security personnel later intervened to disperse the crowd and restore order. Authorities have since increased security deployment around the strong room and are closely monitoring the situation.
