Cracks in TMC? 10 winning MLAs absent from Mamata Banerjee’s key Kalighat meet

Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with the party’s newly elected MLAs at her Kalighat residence to discuss the selection of the Leader of the Opposition following the Assembly election results. All 80 winning candidates of the party had been invited to attend the meeting, which began at the scheduled time in the evening. However, 10 winning MLAs remained absent from the gathering.

The meeting took place amid heightened political activity after the Trinamool Congress suffered a major setback in the Assembly elections. Newly elected MLAs of the party arrived at Kalighat for the discussion, where senior party leaders were also present. The identities of the absent MLAs were not officially disclosed during the meeting. No official explanation regarding their absence was immediately issued by the party leadership.

During interactions with journalists at Kalighat, Mamata Banerjee reiterated that she would not resign, stating that she did not accept the election outcome as a genuine defeat.
