Former footballer Mohan Singh passed away on Thursday afternoon at the age of 78. He breathed his last at 1:10 PM at a private hospital in central Kolkata. Mohan Singh was regarded as one of the prominent footballers associated with Kolkata football during his playing career across several leading clubs in the city.
Mohan Singh began his football career with Aryan FC in 1967 before joining BNR Football Club in 1968. He represented the railway team for four years and later signed for East Bengal FC. He continued with East Bengal until 1972 and subsequently moved to Mohun Bagan Super Giant, where he played for the next two years.
In 1975, Mohan Singh returned to East Bengal and later spent two years with Mohammedan Sporting Club. After his stint there, he went back to BNR. Over the course of his career, he represented multiple major football clubs in Kolkata and remained associated with the city’s football circuit for several years.
