Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee has updated her profile description on social media platform X days after the party lost the West Bengal Assembly elections to the Bharatiya Janata Party. The updated bio now describes her as “Chief Minister of West Bengal (15th, 16th and 17th Vidhan Sabha)” instead of referring to her as the current Chief Minister of the state.
The earlier version of Banerjee’s profile description had read, “Founder Chairperson All India Trinamool Congress. Honourable Chief Minister, West Bengal.” The revised description now reads, “Founder Chairperson All India Trinamool Congress. Chief Minister of West Bengal (15th, 16th and 17th Vidhan Sabha).”
The change in the profile description comes shortly after the Trinamool Congress lost the Assembly elections and amid the ongoing transition of power in West Bengal. Earlier, Mamata Banerjee had publicly stated that she would not resign from the post of Chief Minister despite the election result. The 17th West Bengal Legislative Assembly was later formally dissolved following constitutional procedure ahead of the formation of the new government.
