The Entally Police, in a joint operation with the Anti-Robbery Squad (ARS) of the Detective Department, arrested a prime accused in a murder and Arms Act case on Sunday. The accused, identified as 50-year-old Bhola Kar, popularly known as 'Bok Bhola', had been on the run since the incident occurred on May 6. Acting on specific intelligence, the police team tracked him to a remote location in the Hasnabad police station area of North 24 Parganas.
The arrest took place during a pre-dawn raid around 02:15 hrs at the residence of one Mithun Mondal in Konanagar, Hasnabad. Bhola Kar had allegedly been hiding there to evade the city police following the filing of the FIR under sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Arms Act. His apprehension is seen as a significant success for the Kolkata Police in their investigation into recent local violence.
Following the arrest, the police initiated formal legal procedures and brought the accused back to the city for further interrogation. Investigators believe that Bhola’s questioning will lead to more details regarding the motive behind the murder and the source of the illegal firearms used in the crime. The authorities have ensured that all procedural requirements were met immediately following the capture.
