A BJP worker sustained severe injuries after allegedly being attacked with a knife by a local Trinamool Congress worker in the Valley Park area of Garia in Kolkata on Saturday afternoon. According to reports, the injured youth suffered critical wounds to his hand, and there are concerns that four of his fingers may require amputation.
According to police sources, both the injured victim and the accused are residents of the same locality. The dispute allegedly escalated rapidly, following which the accused attacked the BJP supporter with a sharp-edged knife in broad daylight.
The injured youth was immediately taken for medical treatment after the attack. The incident created tension in the Valley Park locality as residents gathered at the scene following the assault. Police have started an investigation into the incident and are examining the circumstances that led to the violence.
