In a major relief for Class 12 students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a drastic reduction in the re-evaluation fees for answer sheets. Students seeking a scanned copy of their evaluated answer sheets will now pay only ₹100, down from the previously mandated fee of ₹700. The decision comes right before the verification process is scheduled to begin, offering an accessible opportunity to students who believe they deserve higher marks but were deterred by the high financial barrier.
The online window to apply for these scanned copies will remain active from May 19 to May 22, 2026. The re-checking process is structured in two distinct phases: acquiring the scanned answer sheet, followed by verification or re-evaluation. After receiving their copies, students can apply for the verification of discrepancies or a complete re-evaluation between May 26 and May 29, 2026.
The board has clarified that while verifying a complete answer book will cost ₹500 per subject, challenging specific questions for re-evaluation will incur a fee of ₹100 per question. Students must note that they will get only a single chance to apply, and any change in marks—even a reduction of one mark—will be final, requiring the submission of old marksheets for updated ones.
