The political landscape of West Bengal is witnessing a fresh round of intense speculation following the central government's decision to grant Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) protection to veteran Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament, Dr. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar. According to high-level administrative sources, the sitting Lok Sabha MP from Barasat has officially been under the security cover of central paramilitary commandos since May 18, 2026. The swift allocation of Union security has raised eyebrows across party lines, with many political analysts drawing immediate parallels between this development and her recent public fallout with the TMC top brass.

The sudden shift in her security apparatus comes immediately after major structural changes within the Trinamool Congress parliamentary team. On May 15, during an emergency meeting of party MPs convened at Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat residence, Ghosh Dastidar was unceremoniously removed from her high-profile position as the party’s Chief Whip (Chief Communicator) in the Lok Sabha. In a telling move, the party leadership chose to reinstate veteran leader Kalyan Banerjee to the position. The administrative demotion came as a massive shock to Ghosh Dastidar, who has been widely regarded as an indispensable member of Banerjee's inner circle since her early student politics days.

The parliamentary snub quickly translated into open resentment on social media. Within 24 hours of losing her post, the Barasat MP posted a highly explosive and cryptic message on her official Facebook page. She wrote, "Known since 76, started walking since 84. Today I am rewarded for 4 decades of loyalty." While she strategically avoided naming any specific party leader, the timeline of the post made it abundantly clear that she was taking a direct swipe at the TMC top management for discarding her long-standing dedication to the political outfit.
