"Let them demolish my house, I won't bow down", says Abhishek Banerjee on KMC notice

Abhishek Banerjee on Tuesday broke his silence regarding the recent structural compliance notices issued by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) against his residential properties. He said that no amount of administrative pressure would break his political resolve. The high-profile properties under scrutiny since Monday include his 'Shantiniketan' residence on Harish Mukherjee Road and a family-owned asset on Kalighat Road.

During the internal strategy meeting with TMC MLAs, Banerjee openly dared the state administration to execute their demolition threats, stating, "Let them send as many notices as they want, let them even demolish my house, but I will not bow down to these intimidation tactics." The Diamond Harbour MP positioned the municipal notices not as a routine civic action, but as a politically motivated assault orchestrated by the newly formed state government to weaken the opposition's morale ahead of crucial localized elections.

He launched a direct attack against Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, accusing him of introducing a vindictive "bulldozer culture" into the state's political landscape. Reviewing the sudden administrative aggression, the TMC leader remarked to the gathering of legislators that West Bengal has never in its political history witnessed a Chief Minister with such a malicious and vindictive mentality as Adhikari. He urged party MLAs to stand firm and resist what he described as an authoritarian misuse of municipal and police machinery to target political opponents.
