Ranveer Singh banned by film workers’ federation after ‘Don 3’ exit

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued a non-cooperation directive against actor Ranveer Singh following a dispute over his reported exit from Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming film Don 3, effectively barring members from working with him. The decision comes after a complaint linked to his sudden withdrawal from the project, which is produced by Excel Entertainment.

According to FWICE, the matter was taken up in an internal meeting before the federation decided to announce disciplinary action, with its leadership citing concerns over actors exiting projects close to production schedules. The directive instructs affiliated bodies and industry workers to refrain from collaborating with Singh following the decision.

The dispute reportedly began after Singh exited Don 3 shortly before its production schedule, triggering financial and production-related concerns for the makers. Reports suggest that the film had already undergone significant pre-production planning before the actor’s exit, leading to internal disagreements between the production team and the actor.

FWICE officials, including senior office bearers, have stated that such withdrawals create instability in film production planning and have raised concerns over the broader impact on the industry. The federation said its decision followed consultations and internal assessment of the situation before issuing the non-cooperation directive.

The matter had also reached industry bodies such as the Producers Guild of India, where discussions were held to address the dispute between the parties. Meanwhile, the Don franchise, directed by Farhan Akhtar, remains one of the most high-profile action film series in Hindi cinema, with the latest installment facing production uncertainty amid the controversy.
