TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar attends CM Suvendu’s administrative meeting amid party rift

Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar attended Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s administrative meeting in Kalyani on Tuesday amid ongoing political speculation over her relationship with the party leadership. Along with her, several Trinamool MLAs from North 24 Parganas were also present at the meeting held at the APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium. Officials from the districts of North 24 Parganas, Nadia and Hooghly attended the administrative review session chaired by the Chief Minister.

Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar’s appearance at the meeting drew attention following recent developments within the Trinamool Congress. She was recently removed from the post of chief whip of the party’s parliamentary unit, after which the responsibility was reassigned to Serampore MP Kalyan Banerjee. Soon after the decision, Kakoli posted a message on social media referring to “the reward for loyalty,” which triggered political discussion across the state.

Days later, the veteran MP resigned from the post of president of the Barasat organisational district unit of the Trinamool Congress. She was also recently provided central security cover. Against this backdrop, her participation in the administrative meeting led to renewed political speculation regarding her position within the party and her future political course.

Speaking to reporters before attending the meeting, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar stated that the meeting was administrative in nature and not connected to any political party. She said, “The administration belongs to everyone. This is not a party meeting. I attend administrative meetings regularly.” Trinamool MLAs including Anisur Rahman Biswas, Bina Mondal and Abdul Motin were also present at the programme.

The meeting focused on administrative and developmental matters concerning North 24 Parganas, Nadia and Hooghly districts. BJP leaders including Dilip Ghosh and Agnimitra Paul were present at the venue to welcome the Chief Minister. The participation of opposition representatives at the meeting became a major point of discussion amid recent political developments involving Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar and the Trinamool Congress leadership.
