Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
A four-member team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) visited the residence of Trinamool Congress MP and All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Harish Mukherjee Road on Saturday afternoon. According to sources, the visit was linked to the ongoing investigation into the alleged Assembly signature forgery case. CID officials arrived at the residence, known as ‘Shantiniketan’, shortly after 1:00 PM. As of the latest information available, the gates of the residence remained closed and the officials were not granted entry into the premises.
After repeatedly calling from outside the residence, the officials were met by a staff member identified as Smaranjit Dey. He informed the CID team that neither Abhishek Banerjee nor any member of his family was present at the residence and stated that he did not know their whereabouts. He also indicated that permission to enter the premises had not been granted. Following the interaction, CID officials recorded his name and identity details, after which the staff member returned inside the residence.
