Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
Former Egra MLA Tarun Kumar Maity has come under fresh scrutiny after police recovered approximately 55 unaccounted-for government-issued Sabuj Sathi bicycles from Paniparul Mukteshwar High School, where he serves as Headmaster. Acting on information received from a confidential source, officers from Egra Police Station conducted a surprise raid on the school premises on Friday afternoon and recovered the bicycles. The incident has triggered significant discussion and controversy across the locality.
The recovery comes shortly after another controversy involving the former legislator. A few days earlier, eleven former MLAs and teachers from Egra had accused him of illegally retaining government-issued three-wheeled vehicles. Following those allegations, the administration recovered the vehicles in question. Before that matter could subside, authorities initiated a fresh operation that led to the discovery of the government-issued bicycles from the school premises.
According to available information, the recovered bicycles were part of the government's Sabuj Sathi scheme. Police conducted the operation based on a tip-off and seized the bicycles during the raid. The recovery has generated considerable attention throughout the region, and authorities are examining the circumstances under which the bicycles were being kept at the school. Further inquiries into the matter are underway.
