No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Several Durga Puja committees in West Bengal have reportedly approached the Prime Minister’s Office requesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate their Durga Puja celebrations this year. The requests come ahead of the festival season as preparations begin across Kolkata and other parts of the state.
According to available information, Prime Minister Modi is expected to be in Kolkata on Maha Ashtami. During the visit, he may offer prayers and pushpanjali to Goddess Durga as part of the festival observances. No official announcement regarding his detailed schedule has been made so far.
The requests submitted by various Durga Puja committees are understood to be under consideration. Organisers have sought the Prime Minister’s presence at their events as preparations for the annual festival gather momentum across the state. The Bharatiya Janata Party is also preparing to organize Durga Puja on a large scale in different parts of West Bengal this year.
