"Why no FIR against Amit Shah?" asks Abhishek as CID serves him fresh summon for June 16
Amul is set to establish a major dairy processing facility in Howrah with an estimated investment of ₹650 crore, marking one of the company’s largest projects in eastern India. The foundation stone for the plant is expected to be laid next week, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to attend the ceremony. More than a hundred invited guests and dairy farmers are expected to participate in the event.
According to administrative sources, the proposed facility will be located at the Salkia Food Park in Howrah’s Sankrail area. The project is expected to include two large dairy production units and is being described as Amul’s first fully owned dairy processing plant. The facility is planned to be developed in two phases by a Gujarat-based company.
The plant is projected to manufacture a range of dairy products, including up to one million kilograms of yogurt, along with lassi and buttermilk. Officials expect the project to strengthen dairy processing capacity in the state and support the development of the dairy sector through expanded production infrastructure.
Preparations for the project reportedly followed discussions involving senior leaders and company representatives. Sources indicate that Amit Shah may visit West Bengal on June 13 to formally inaugurate the foundation-laying ceremony. Administrative sources further stated that Amul is also exploring opportunities to expand its operations into North Bengal, indicating plans for a broader presence in the state beyond the Howrah project.
