Congress calls emergency meeting in Delhi tomorrow amid Mamata's LoP demand
Former Kolkata Municipal Corporation Mayor-in-Council member and Trinamool Congress councillor Swapan Samaddar has been arrested in connection with allegations related to post-poll violence. Police detained and questioned Samaddar before taking him into custody. He is facing multiple allegations, and several charges have been registered against him as part of the investigation.
According to police sources, three FIRs were registered against Samaddar at Narkeldanga Police Station in connection with incidents of post-election violence. Samaddar represented Ward No. 56 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation as a Trinamool Congress councillor. Investigators are examining allegations that he was directly involved in supporting or facilitating acts of violence that allegedly took place following the 2021 elections.
A police team reached Samaddar's residence on Tuesday afternoon and questioned him regarding the allegations. Following the interrogation, officers arrested him and took him into custody for further investigation. Police are continuing their probe into the cases registered against him and the allegations surrounding the post-poll violence incidents.
