Serious allegations have surfaced against Trinamool Congress zonal president Monirul Molla and his associate Chandan Das in Gopalpur village under Gopalpur Gram Panchayat No. 1 in Haroa Assembly constituency of North 24 Parganas district. Local women alleged that women were being brought to an isolated farmhouse owned by Monirul Molla, where illegal and objectionable activities were being conducted. Following protests by villagers, Monirul Molla is reportedly absconding, and tension has spread across the area.
According to local residents, the farmhouse was located in a secluded part of the village and was equipped with various facilities, including an expensive bed, costly furnishings, and a modern bathroom. On Thursday, dozens of women from the village, led by resident Paramita Das, gathered at the property, broke open the lock on the main gate, and entered the premises to inspect the house.
The women alleged that they found evidence of immoral activities inside the farmhouse. They also claimed that a large quantity of government relief materials, including tarpaulins, dry food supplies, and other relief items, had been stored on the property. According to the allegations, the materials were being kept at the farmhouse instead of being distributed to intended beneficiaries.
Following the incident, local women staged protests in the area and raised allegations against Monirul Molla and Chandan Das. The protesters claimed that the two men had been using their political influence for a long period to lure or intimidate women into visiting the isolated property. They further alleged that relief materials meant for poor residents had been secretly stockpiled at the farmhouse, triggering public anger and demonstrations in the locality.
