Bengal govt launches ‘Apnar Sarkar, Apnar Pashe’ portal for welfare and public service complaints
Krishnanagar MP Mahua Moitra has said she will approach the police after a crowd allegedly gathered with eggs and tomatoes outside the Krishnanagar District Court premises on Friday, where she was expected to appear in connection with a case. The MP stated that she would file a formal complaint and warned that she would seek legal remedies through the courts if the police do not accept it.
According to information shared by Mahua Moitra, a group of people allegedly assembled outside the court after receiving advance information about her expected arrival. Some individuals were reportedly carrying eggs, while others were allegedly carrying tomatoes. Mahua Moitra ultimately did not appear before the court on the scheduled day. Videos from the court premises later circulated on social media, although their authenticity has not been independently verified.
The incident comes amid a series of public protests directed at Trinamool Congress leaders following the change of government in West Bengal. Similar incidents involving eggs being allegedly thrown at political leaders have been reported in recent weeks. Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee had also recently faced protests during which eggs were allegedly thrown and slogans were raised against him.
In a video message, Mahua Moitra alleged that the individuals gathered outside the court were BJP women workers. She claimed that she recognized those present in the footage and alleged that they had been sent to the court premises by political leaders. She further alleged that the gathering was intended to intimidate her and announced her intention to seek police action against those involved.
Mahua Moitra stated that she would pursue the matter through legal channels if her complaint is not accepted by the police. She said she was prepared to approach higher courts, including the High Court and the Supreme Court, if necessary. Through social media, she also indicated the legal provisions under which she intends to seek action regarding the incident.
