Chingrighata flyover closed in phases as Orange Line Metro enters final construction stage
A woman was found murdered with her throat slit inside a rented house in Rishra, Hooghly, on Saturday, triggering panic in the locality. The deceased has been identified as Monika Ojha. Police have identified her husband as the prime suspect in the case after he went missing following the incident. According to police sources, the husband, who works at a bar in Chennai, had returned home on Friday but has been untraceable since Saturday morning. The victim's body has been sent for post-mortem examination, while a search operation has been launched to trace the missing husband.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, Shrirampur Deputy Commissioner of Police Arnab Biswas, along with officers from Rishra Police Station, reached the scene and began an investigation. A forensic team examined the house and collected evidence from the spot. Police officials stated that the sequence of events and the exact cause of the murder will be established after the post-mortem examination and scientific analysis of the evidence collected during the investigation.
Police are also questioning the victim's family members to determine whether there had been any dispute between the couple or whether any other motive may have been involved in the crime. The victim is survived by her four-year-old daughter. The incident has left local residents shocked, with many demanding the immediate arrest of the absconding suspect as the investigation continues.
