Following a recent eviction drive at Bandar Basti in Tikiapara, authorities initiated a similar anti-encroachment operation in the Nepalibasti area adjacent to Shalimar station in Howrah on Tuesday. Approximately 51 shops and commercial structures built on the land are being systematically cleared and demolished using bulldozers.
To manage public anger and counter any potential unrest or law and order problems during the demolition process, a massive security contingent has been deployed at the site. Personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) alongside a strong team from the Howrah City Police are actively monitoring the locality.
The joint law enforcement teams have cordoned off the targeted zones to ensure the heavy machinery can operate smoothly without local interference. This clearance drive is part of an ongoing administrative effort to remove unauthorized settlements and structural encroachments from government and railway properties across key transit points in Howrah.
