The state government has announced that women travelling free on government buses will be required to obtain a Pink Card after the current arrangement of issuing zero-value tickets is discontinued. Women are presently receiving zero-value tickets while boarding government buses, but the Pink Card will become mandatory for availing the free travel facility. The government has also outlined both online and offline application procedures for obtaining the card.
For online applications, applicants must visit the official website of the West Bengal Government, select the Pink Card link, register using their name and mobile number, upload the required documents, and submit the application. After successful submission, applicants will receive a receipt, which should be retained. The required documents include an Aadhaar card, voter card, permanent resident certificate, photograph, and mobile number.
For offline applications, residents of panchayat areas must submit the application form at the Block Development Officer (BDO) office, while residents of municipal areas must apply at their respective municipality offices. Applicants are required to submit the completed form along with all necessary documents. The Pink Card will be issued after the verification process is completed.
