Eastern Railway has launched a new initiative to promote cleanliness across railway stations and trains by inaugurating a mega awareness campaign titled "Eastern Railway Is Watching You" at Howrah Station on Saturday. The campaign forms part of the third phase of the nationwide cleanliness awareness drive. Eastern Railway General Manager Milind Deuskar and Howrah Division Divisional Railway Manager Vishal Kapoor were among the senior officials present at the inauguration.
Railway officials stated that continuous awareness programmes will be conducted to encourage passengers to maintain cleanliness within station premises and onboard trains. The campaign aims to educate passengers about cleanliness standards and their responsibility in keeping railway property clean.
Officials said the initial phase of the campaign will focus on awareness and issuing warnings to passengers who violate cleanliness rules. They added that repeated violations despite these efforts could result in heavy fines and, if required, legal action against offenders in the future.
