Kamduni case: Victim's brother seeks Baruipur-like encounter; CM Suvendu assures justice

The family of the 2013 Kamduni gang-rape and murder victim met Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at a public meeting at the BJP office in Salt Lake on Wednesday morning. Accompanied by prominent protesters Moushumi Kayal and Tumpa Kayal, the victim's mother and brother demanded justice. The victim's brother specifically called for the suspects to face an encounter similar to the recent incident in Baruipur, expressing satisfaction after the meeting.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari assured the family that justice would be delivered and announced that the state would reopen the Kamduni case files for a re-investigation following the recent change of power. The case is currently pending in the Supreme Court, and Adhikari stated that state lawyers would support the family without any opposition from the government. The victim's mother expressed renewed hope for a fair trial following these assurances.

The brutal 2013 incident involved the kidnapping, gang-rape, and murder of a 20-year-old college girl in Barasat, which sparked widespread public anger across Bengal. The movement faced political controversy at the time when former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that Maoists were present among the protesters. Protesters Moushumi and Tumpa stated that the current Chief Minister was fully aware of the case history and expected exemplary punishment for the guilty within a month.
