Not just Kolkata, ISCKON will provide mid-day meal to entire state schools: CM Suvendu
To modernize the signaling network, Eastern Railway’s Sealdah Division has announced a brief weekend traffic block at the crucial Naihati Junction. A non-interlocking traffic power block will be enforced from 12:00 AM midnight on Saturday, July 18, until 4:00 AM on Sunday, July 19. This temporary suspension is necessary to integrate advanced electronic interlocking (EI) systems at both Naihati Central EI and EI Hat. The implementation of these modern logic circuits is expected to significantly improve safety protocols and secure smoother train operations at this highly congested junction.
The four-hour traffic block will result in the suspension of multiple local services and the regulation of several express and passenger trains on the Sealdah-Ranaghat section. In a statement, the railway administration apologized for the temporary operational inconvenience to commuters, noting that the late-night timing on the weekend was strategically chosen to minimize disruption to daily office-goers. Commuters are advised to cross-check updated train schedules via official divisional social media handles and station notice boards before initiating their journeys.
Several long-distance trains originating from and bound for North Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh will either run on delayed schedules or undergo route short-terminations. Major local connections, including those on the Naihati-Kalyani Border route, have been adjusted for both Saturday and Sunday. In addition to cancellations, express trains like the Lalgola-Sealdah and Jogbani-Kolkata Express will experience departure delays ranging from 45 to 180 minutes. Safety personnel and engineering staff will be working continuously on-site during the block window to complete the technical upgrades.
