The district administration on Saturday demolished a blue-coloured shed constructed outside Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee's office in the Amtala area of Diamond Harbour during an enforcement operation. A large deployment of state police and central security forces was made to maintain law and order, while senior officials, including the Block Development Officer (BDO), the Block Land and Land Reforms Officer (BLRO), and fire department personnel, supervised the operation. According to administrative sources, complaints had been received alleging violations of the approved building plan and unauthorised construction related to the five-storey building.
Administrative sources said legal notices had earlier been issued to the concerned parties, directing them to appear for a hearing after complaints regarding the construction were received. The notices allegedly required the parties to submit documents supporting their claims and ownership by 2:00 PM on July 15. According to the administration, none of the parties appeared before the authorities within the stipulated time despite being served with the notices.
Following the expiry of the deadline, an administrative team carried out the demolition of the shed on Saturday morning using a bulldozer. Officials stated that the action was taken in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure and applicable rules. No official information has been provided regarding any further action concerning the main five-storey building.
