Police removes Rahul, Priyanka, other Congress leaders from dharna site near PM Modi's residence
A serious incident of child sexual harassment has triggered massive public outrage in Ward Number 2 of the Dum Dum Municipality. The local police have arrested the prime accused, identified as 40-year-old Billal Ghazi, who resides in a rented accommodation in the locality. The victim's mother alongside local residents gathered in large numbers to protest against the heinous crime, strictly demanding the maximum possible legal punishment for the perpetrator.
The unfortunate incident took place on Sunday evening when the victim's mother was occupied with cooking inside her house. Taking advantage of the situation, Ghazi allegedly lured the young child into a toilet and kept her distracted by handing her his mobile phone to perpetrate the sexual harassment. The abuse initially escaped the mother's notice until a watchful female neighbor spotted the activity and immediately alerted her. Upon rushing to the scene, the mother witnessed the ongoing harassment firsthand.
Following the discovery, the victim's mother approached the former local councilor, Baby Mandal, for help. However, it is alleged that the former councilor's husband, Jalil Mandal, refused to support the distressed family, actively threatened to evict them from their rented house, and warned them against disclosing the matter to anyone. Despite the intimidation, the news eventually spread to the local political party office, whose members assisted the family in lodging a formal complaint at the Dum Dum police station, leading to the immediate arrest of the accused.
