The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police arrested two Thai women in the Bhawanipur area for allegedly smuggling the synthetic drug MDMA, commonly known as 'Molly'. The suspects, identified as Supawadi Sukuliyat and Suthuwana Kut, had arrived in Kolkata from Bangkok on tourist visas to deliver the contraband intended for local rave parties.
Acting on specific intelligence regarding drug smuggling channels operating between Bangkok and Kolkata, STF detectives raided a hotel in Bhabanipur where the women were staying. Upon searching their belongings, officers recovered 20 grams of high-grade Molly, estimated to be worth over ₹1 lakh. During initial questioning, the suspects revealed they had received specialized training to conceal drugs past airport security scanners.
Investigators indicated that local drug syndicates in Kolkata had facilitated the stay and logistics for the foreign nationals. Detectives are currently interrogating the suspects to determine whether they had conducted previous smuggling trips to India, while simultaneously launching operations to trace their local handlers and agents across the city.
