Abhijeet Dipke takes break from Jantar-Mantar protest, cites health issues
Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee faced a setback in the Calcutta High Court after failing to secure comprehensive protection across multiple cases. During the hearing, Justice Saugata Bhattacharya questioned the need for blanket relief, pointing out that protection already exists in a specific matter.
Representing the TMC leader, Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal argued that existing relief was limited to specific proceedings and requested comprehensive interim protection. However, Justice Bhattacharya observed that granting uniform protection in all matters could potentially hamper ongoing investigations, emphasizing that each case must be evaluated individually.
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, representing the state, requested time to present arguments in the matter. The High Court subsequently deferred the hearing and scheduled the next date of proceedings for July 30.
