Nabanna signboard changes to saffron after 15 years of 'white and blue'

Following the recent political transition in West Bengal, changes are underway across various state-owned structures previously painted blue and white during the Trinamool Congress regime. The primary state administrative headquarters, Nabanna, saw its first visible cosmetic update on Monday. The large illuminated "Nabanna" nameplate situated atop the secretariat building, which remained blue for the last 15 years, has been repainted in saffron.

While the main structure of the administrative building currently retains its former look, official confirmation regarding a complete repaint of Nabanna has not yet been issued. However, political observers note that the change in the sign's color mirrors a broader trend across the state, where blue-and-white infrastructure accents are increasingly being replaced with saffron following the change in power.

This update at the state secretariat comes alongside administrative directives affecting other public sectors. The Suvendu Adhikari-led government recently announced the rollback of the mandatory blue-and-white school uniform policy introduced in 2022. Starting the upcoming academic session, state schools will revert to their traditional individual uniforms assigned prior to the 2022 mandate.
