Police nab two Bihar men red-handed trying to smuggle alcohol from Howrah station
A high-voltage scare unfolded on Kolkata’s bustling Park Street after a suspicious sack with a covered opening was spotted lying unattended on the roadside. Given the high footfall and sensitive nature of the area, passersby and local shopkeepers immediately raised an alarm, fearing that the abandoned bag might contain human remains. The sight of the tightly tied sack in the heart of the city caused widespread panic among pedestrians and commuters during peak hours.
Upon receiving emergency calls, police teams rushed to the scene to secure the area. Officers immediately cordoned off the stretch of road, diverted vehicular traffic, and restricted pedestrian movement as a precautionary measure. Using standard security protocols, investigators carefully examined the suspicious sack before opening it.
Following a thorough inspection, authorities opened the sack only to discover the carcass of a dog inside. The confirmation brought immense relief to onlookers and local business owners, putting an end to the severe security scare. Officials subsequently removed the animal remains for proper disposal and normalized traffic movement along the busy thoroughfare.
