Bihar Govt to withdraw all cases against NEET exam protesters amid opposition, CJP pressure
A man named Sayel Mondal was arrested by Kolkata Police following allegations that he spiked his fiancee's drink and raped her at his residence in Vijaygarh, Jadavpur. The victim, a college student residing in South Kolkata, had recently been engaged to Mondal through a matchmaker. Her family had stipulated that the marriage would take place only after she completed her education and secured employment, a condition agreed upon by both families.
According to the complaint, Mondal invited the victim to his vacant flat on July 21 under the pretext of reviewing her bio-data to assist with job opportunities. When the victim resisted his initial inappropriate advances, Mondal allegedly offered her a cold drink spiked with sedatives. Believing her fiance, the student consumed the beverage and lost consciousness, following which Mondal allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Upon regaining consciousness, the victim confronted Mondal, who allegedly threatened her to keep quiet about the incident. Visibly distressed, she returned home and disclosed the entire ordeal to her parents. With their support, she lodged a formal complaint at the Golf Green Police Station, leading to Mondal's arrest and subsequent legal action.
