The cyber crime team of Perambalur district police arrested two men belonging to Bihar in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad for allegedly defrauding them of Rs 6.2 lakh from a Perambalur man who promised him a job in the United Arab Emirates.

According to the police, Ranjith Kumar, a returnee from the Gulf working in Perambalur, complained that he had applied for a job online and the fraudsters had contacted him through his mobile phone. They convinced him to transfer money for the work, but he later found himself in isolation.

Based on his complaint, in December 2022, the Perambalur police registered a case for cyber crime. The team traced the accused to Uttar Pradesh and arrested Vikas Kumar Misra (32) and Gowtham Kumar Jha (22). It belongs to Madhubani district of Bihar. 2.1 lakh, a processor, five mobile phones with sim cards, 14 ATMs and five bank passbooks were seized from them.

The police brought them to Perambalur on Wednesday evening and sent them to judicial custody.
