Dhanbad: IIT ISM honours the CEO of Adani Natural Resources, 5 other prominent alumni

IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad honored its six prominent alumni including Vinay Prakash, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Adani Natural Resources with prestigious awards.

Prof. Rajni Singh, Dean, Media Branding, IIT ISM, said that Institution Director Prof Rajiv Shekhar presented the Distinguished Alumnus Award to all the six distinguished alumni during the 'Basant 2023' Annual Convocation.

During the two-day meet, more than 70 engineering cradles from across the country attended the festival to relive their old memories of the institution. Vinay Prakash, Director of Adani Enterprises Limited and CEO of Adani Natural Resources, was honored with the Director's Award for his services to the company. 

Virendra Kumar Arora, a student of 1966 batch, was honored with the Narendra Kumar Memorial Award for his contribution to the nation. Virendra Kumar Arora is Principal Mentor of Karam Chandra Thapar & Bros (Coal Sales) Limited.

Vinay Kumar Diwan, a 1969 B Tech student, received 'The Enterprises Award' for his contribution in the field of entrepreneurship promotion. Dr. Srikanta Mishra 1981 student in Petroleum Engineering received the "Research and Academic Excellence Award". Dr Mishra is Technical Director Geo Energy Modeling and Analytic Battelle Memorial Institute OH, USA.

Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra, a mining engineering student in 1967, received the Bhaskar Bhattacharjee Memorial Award. Dr. Mishra is the Chairman and Managing Director of South Eastern Coalfield (SECL). Swati Pandey, 2010 batch was awarded the 'Achiever Award for Young Graduates'. Pandey is the co-founder and CEO of Arboreal.

Professor Rajni Singh said that the two newly established Jaswant Singh Gill Memorial Industrial Safety Excellence Awards 2022 were also awarded to ECL and Hindustan Zinc Limited.

In addition, Dr Debashish Bhattacharjee, Vice President (Technology and New Materials Business) of Tata Steel received the Basant Samman Award 2023 for his contribution to the iron and steel industry.

Sanjiv Agrawal, students of 1986 batch also made an online announcement during the ceremony of inducting DB Agrawal Chair Professor in his father's name at the institution. It was also signed by Mou between IIT ISM and Srinivasan Padnabham for the institution of academic and innovation, Invention Awards.
