Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the UP Global Investors Summit 2023 in Lucknow on Friday. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel accompanied the Prime Minister to the spot.
The summit is expected to take place over three days on 10-12, Several Union Ministers and industrialists will attend in February. The UK is expected to bring a number of businesses to the summit to promote economic partnership between the country and the state of UP to realize the vision envisioned by Prime Minister Modi and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, UK Trade Commissioner for South Asia said.
The UK is aiming to double trade with India by 2030 and conclude a new foreign trade agreement soon, he added. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani was also seen attending the inaugural session of the summit. "UP is an important state for us. The help we are getting here from the government is excellent,” HUL CMD Sanjiv Mehta said on the sidelines of the summit.
“I recommend investors to come to UP as the investment environment is right here and the government is proactive,” added Mehta. The summit is a step towards creating a $1 trillion economy, said Awanish K Awasthi, advisor to CM Adityanath.
The summit will also be attended by South Korean Ambassador Chang Jae-bok, who met the UP CM in Lucknow on Thursday ahead of the event.
