A video of an Assistant Superintendent of Police based in Biharská Patna is doing the rounds on social media where he is seen getting a massage from police constables. The one receiving the massage has been identified as Manish Kumar, ASP at Phulwari Sharif in Patna.
The police constables who were seen massaging the ASP have written a letter to the Patna Superintendent of Police. Manavjit Singh Dhillon informed him about the incident that took place on August 27 last year.
In the complaint, the constables said that 10 of them, including four constables, were asked to report to ASP Manish Kumar from police lines to maintain law and order in Phulwari Sharif. While some constables were asked to give massage to the ASP, others were asked to wash Kumar's clothes at his residence. The constables claimed that they were also beaten and threatened with suspension if they did not comply with the orders of the ASP.
"We have enough ASP activity and many police constables are depressed. Whenever we go to the ASP headquarters, we are scared and think that we have made a big mistake by joining the police force," he added, the constables said in a letter to the SSP.
CPI (ML) lawmaker from Phulwari Sharif Gopal Ravidas said, "The matter is under investigation. When he (Kumar) was posted in Gaya, he allegedly beat up the home guard jawans for not giving him a massage, and the case is still ongoing."
PATNA POLICE PROVIDED MAJOR PROBE REPORT
Police said the viral ASP video was two months old and was taken in November 2022. The Patna police took cognizance of the video and started an investigation and recorded the statements of the constables' victims. Police said the preliminary investigation report has been forwarded to the police headquarters.
