West Bengal budget to be presented on February 15, expected to boost startups

Mamata Banerjee's government of West Bengal will present the budget in the assembly on Wednesday. Panchayat Election is to be held on this year. For this reason, there is a possibility of emphasis on social schemes. In this year's state budget, the government may give directions for alternative income to prevent a central shortage. State Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya will present the budget in the assembly at 2 pm that day. 

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is accusing the Central for economic discrimination. In such a situation, no social scheme should be stopped in the state. This year's state budget may show the direction of alternative income. Amit Mitra, former finance minister of the state and chairman of the Financial Advisory Committee, has given advice on the budget. According to the rules, the budget will be passed in the cabinet meeting at Chief Minister's residence at 1 pm that day.

According to sources, the budget this year will see a focus on boost on the start-up and manufacturing sectors. Sources say that the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal has been focusing extensively on employment growth in the state and the budget will witness some sops in this direction too. It may be recalled that the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) and Confederation of West Bengal Trade Association have been organizing trade fairs in the state to promote entrepreneurship and also, bring start-ups into the limelight.

Just as the central budget was presented by the woman Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, similarly the state budget will be presented by the women Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya. Chandrima Bhattacharya is presenting the budget for the second time. It is alleged that the Center is depriving Bengal in various ways. It is likely to be discussed in the budget.
