The Monitoring Bureau has issued instructions to arrest teachers who obtained jobs with fake degrees and have FIRs registered against them. The bureau has requested information on the whereabouts of such teachers and why their arrests have not yet been made.
The majority of these cases are reported in the Gaya district, where 218 accused teachers and 71 FIRs have been registered. A letter has been written to the police headquarters to arrest the identified fake teachers across all districts.
Vigilance had previously investigated these cases and filed charges against teachers who had been reinstated on the basis of fake degrees. This process is ongoing, with a total of 2401 accused teachers and 1196 FIRs registered so far.
A meeting led by the DG of the Monitoring Bureau is expected to be held soon. Tainted teachers have been identified in almost all districts, with Nalanda having the highest number of FIRs and Gaya having the highest number of accused teachers. Saran has 42 FIRs and 170 accused teachers, while Saharsa district has only one FIR and one accused teacher identified.
