Illegal call center busted in Saltlake Sector-5, 11 people arrested

Bidhannagar Cybercrime officials conducted a successful raid on an illegal call center operating under the guise of 'We Care Solutions Pvt. Ltd.' on the 9th floor of DN-2, Saltlake Sector-5, based on reliable sources.

The center, which was found to be cheating innocent people from countries such as Spain and the USA by claiming to provide technical support under the names of Microsoft, Amazon, and others, was run by Sumit Majhi and Hafizur Rahman Sardar.

The call center's modus operandi involved gaining unauthorized access to victims' computers and then forcing them to pay using various payment methods. Unfortunately, the accused failed to produce valid documents supporting their business during the raid.

Additionally, no agreement papers with the owner of the premises were found. The illegal call center, which occupied an area of more than 1200 square feet, had been in operation since 2020.

As a result of the raid, 11 individuals were arrested, and objectionable material was seized from the premises. Cybercrime officials have ensured that justice will be served and that these criminals will be held accountable for their fraudulent activities.
