A tragic incident occurred in Siliguri as a massive fire broke out in a hotel located at Sevoke More, resulting in the death of one of its workers, Parimal Das. The incident took place on Thursday night, and the deceased, aged 35, died due to severe burns. The police have sent his body to Uttar Banga Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
According to the hotel owner, Vijay Ghosh, the fire originated from a nearby tire shop, which rapidly engulfed the hotel. He expressed his grief over the loss of one of his employees, who was asleep when the fire broke out. The deceased was a resident of Mekhaliganj.
The Mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, Gautam Dev, and Mayor-in-Council Manik De arrived at the scene to assess the situation and offer support. They spoke with the hotel owner and other businessmen affected by the incident, assuring them of assistance during this difficult time.
The incident has left the local community in shock and mourning. It highlights the importance of fire safety measures and the need for proper training and equipment to prevent such incidents from occurring. The authorities must also ensure that the families of the affected workers receive the necessary support and compensation.
