The steel city of Jamshedpur is all set for the second edition of the Jamshedpur Classic and Vintage Car and Bike Rally, to be held on February 25 and 26 at the landmark Gopal Maidan in Bistupur.
Launched in 2022 as part of its efforts to preserve and promote Indian sports, arts and culture, Tata Steel expects to make the Jamshedpur Rally not only the most sought-after event in Jamshedpur during the Founder's Day celebrations, but also in India.
The increasing popularity of the rally is evidenced by the doubling of the number of participating vehicles in its second year itself, of which there are over 80. The vehicles will be displayed on February 25 at Gopal Maidan, while the rally will be flagged off by TV Narendran, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel on February 26 in the presence of other company leaders and key stakeholders in Jamshedpur.
The oldest vehicle to participate this year will be the 1926 Austin 7, also known as the Baby Austin among classic and vintage car enthusiasts. The youngest car to take part in the second year of the rally will be a Fiat from 1983.
These vehicles are not only from Jamshedpur but also from Ranchi, Chaibasa, Kolkata, Barajamda and Keonjhar covering three states – Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal.
The first edition of the rally was part of the 183rd Founder's Day celebrations to honor the vision and memory of the founder of the company and the Tata Group, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata.
Last year, more than 40 cars participated in the rally.
