A Bangladeshi national was arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) while attempting to cross the International Border and enter India. The man was apprehended on the intervening night of March 8 and 9 in the area of border post-Rajatal in the Amritsar sector of Punjab.
According to a BSF spokesperson, the man was fired upon by BSF troops before being arrested. During initial questioning, he revealed his identity as a Bangladeshi national. The BSF will carry out further questioning to determine the next course of action.
“He was fired upon by BSF troops and subsequently arrested. During initial questioning, he revealed his identity as a Bangladeshi national”, said the BSF spokesperson. “Further questioning will be carried out and the next course of action will be taken,” he added.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of illegal immigration and border security in India. India shares land borders with several countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and China. Illegal immigration is a major problem in India, particularly in Bangladesh.
